BAD'09--Climate Change(15/10/2009)

BAD'09-short for Blog Action Day 2009, well, "For those of you who don’t know, Blog Action Day is an annual event held every October 15th where bloggers across the world unite to write about a single issue on a single day. We like to think of it as one big blogfest for good, and our goal is to spark conversation on an issue of importance across the web."-that's what I got from the blogger buzz. Came across it in Sparky's post, and since the topic is a global issue -Climate Change- I thought I would join in the cause as well. Take a look at  www.blogactionday.org for more info.

So, climate change-not a foreign issue to any of us i guess, unless you are the kind that shut yourself from the news, from the world. But even then, you guys would have been exposed to it in your education, teachers, friends, etc. A change in the statistical distribution of weather over periods of time that range from decades to millions of years, a change that is caused mainly by us, humans which in turn will affect us in the near future, be it to us or our future generation. A good example will be global warming.

Although other factors such as plate tectonics, volcanism, etc. do play a role in the change, it is the human influence factor which is growing uncontrollable in today's modern world. Fossil fuel combustion, aerosols, cement manufacture, ozone depletion, animal agriculture, deforestation, etc.-sounds familiar to you? Doing any of those at the moment? Guess you do. Billions of cars out there on the road each there, aerosol everywhere around the world, forest fire, logging, air-conditioner (CFC), etc etc etc. And how many person out there actually cares about all this? Thousands? Millions? Surely not yet billions!

Percentage of advancing glaciers in the Alps in the last 80 years

Variations in CO2, temperature and dust from the Vostok ice core over the last 450,000 years

Glaciers melting, rise in CO2, temperature and dust, changes in sea level, and not forgetting the negative effect on flora and fauna-this are all just a small list of the effect from climate change, and all this is happening now. Yes, NOW! And how many of us actually realize it? Actually took the steps to work hard to reduce their Carbon footprints? Actually tried to promote it to the communities? That is not all. The worst is it is actually WORSENING! Day by day as we continue our daily activities, with no care for our environment, our beloved Earth and it's inhabitants is actually suffering!

To solve all this, every single person in this world would have to play their part. You might think your small action is meaningless to the environment, but remember, small it might be, collectively it is BIG enough to play a BIG part to save our Earth. Think for yourself, for Earth and it's inhabitants, and also for your future generations. You wouldn't want to see your children suffering out there, would you? So save Earth before it's too late....

Damn Pissed Off....

Finish my class at 5 o'clock, I rushed to ktm hoping to get on an early train back home. I was thinking of the various things I have to do when I reach Kepong while waiting. And I wait and wait till I started to get annoyed. 1720-delay + no announcement. Never mind. It's Malaysia's KTM we are talking about. So then I wait again.. 1740-another delay! And no announcement of what's wrong. At 1750, I decided to go over to the other platform hoping to get on the limited stop shuttle train. Make a new friend at that time. Wei Seng's the name. (you there?.. =D)

And the same process took place. Wait and wait and wait. This time at least I have someone to talk to. Or else I'll be cursing the bloody crappy ktm openly. 3 hours is what it takes to reach Kepong KTM!! 3 damn bloody hours I wasted waiting for that train!! Fine! As expected of our 'efficient' train service. But then, I remembered something that I read recently which made me more pissed off with this whole thing-->
So Mr. Najib is going to waste the taxpayers' money for a bloody costly F1 programme is it? What happened to his slogan of “1Malaysia. People First. Performance Now”?? Why don't someone just tell Mr. Najib to take ktm to work for a year, maybe a month perhaps and maybe he'll think twice on his decision again. Why can't he realize that there is so much more within our country that needs his attention rather than an F1 team for 2010 Season?!
“Why waste billions and make inferior cars to waste on F1 when a RM20 cow head and caning a model can get Malaysia global news coverage? F1 is foreign but those incidents are truly Malaysian!”-Malaysian Insider
Have you received a text message containing the above statement? Well, If you haven't, then you have seen it now. So now the thing is Mr. Prime Minister is saying that by creating this F1 team, our country name will be known worldwide. That it will be ‘Made-in-Malaysia, by Malaysians’ and of course, the pit-stops will be run by Malaysians'. And Dr. Mahathir was saying “With the F1 race, Malaysia is shown to the world for hours. We don’t have to pay a single sen. If we were to calculate the advertisement in Japan alone, it may run into US$100 million or US$200 million. So imagine ... more than 300 television stations telecast the F1 race. People will know more about Malaysia if we have our own F1 team.” So we should be proud as a Malaysian that we have an F1 team when countries like Singapore and Indonesia don't have, is it? And now I ask you, you think if you are a foreigner, which one will be more attractive to you, the cow of the car?

Now, Mr. Prime Minister, some of you may be happily showing off to the whole world that Malaysia has its own F1 team-which may be a good thing. But do you know that the rest of us are worried with the way you handled the country, the way you waste the people's money at a time when economy are still considered bad, the way you and your buddies handled the PKFZ scandal, the cow issues and so much more...If only you could think in a wider scope with your small brain, then we would probably have better days to look forward to. Alas, but that's not the case...

It's sad to know that Malaysians have given their votes to a party which before this WAS a party that we can relied much on BUT currently a party so full of the mentality to win and win until most of the Rakyat needs are ignored. A party so full of corruption that public accountability is a 'NO-NO'. A party which is so narrow minded that oppositions' views are never taken into account. A party so desperate to cover up the truth that websites reporting on the real deal is investigated and made inaccessible.

When is the current Government going to keep in touch with the people's needs? The KTM for example. I remembered my lecturer told me recently that in order for a country to be a 'developed country', they must have an efficient transport system. Look at Korea, China, Singapore, Japan and so on. All their train services are ways better than ours. And yet our resources are being used in something that may not be so relevant to us now. Just how much more are you people gonna waste???!

The Thoughts of a Malaysian Kid...

Bac from college n straight 2 laptop (s usual...) n den while reading sm blog updates i came across Lim Kit Siang's blog... well, i muz admit i dun reli noe him.. jz know dat hes an influential politician in Malaysia.. n when i was reading his posts, smthing keep popping up in my mind...

I kept thinking how much more corrupted is Malaysia gonna get?Jz how much more stupid things n act r v gonna do?.. n when is the racial issues ever be solved??? with the recent happenings such as the cow-head protest n the PKFZ scandal, i jz cant imagine how vr gonna achieve our dreams (i think its 1Malaysia..lol)...

Im particularly angry on the cow-head issues.. i wonder where those racist fools keep their brains...
Interviews made by The Malaysian Insider recently revealed that several residents of Section felt their religion had been 'sidetracked' and 'betrayed' by their Muslim leaders. How so? Because the new site for the Hindu temple is just 150 meters from a surau and in a Muslim-majority housing area. The Sri Maha Mariaman Temple had to be relocated from its original site because it was also too close to another surau.-Stand Up For Malaysia blog
Our hindu communities had already shown their tolerance by relocating their temple n yet these fools still wana complain so muc... just wth u guys think ur?.. I tot this country is supposed to b multi-racial.. Den y all the fuss?? n to make it worse, those objectors carried a severed bloodied cow in their protest, an animal which is considered as sacred by the Hindu community... Now now, can somebody tell me which party is the one not showing any tolerance and care before they act??.. ok then, maybe they have a good reason for their protest.. so what is it?.. "the residents argued that the relocation of the temple directly affects Muslim sensitivities.. but when asked what these "sensitivities" were, those objectors failed to provide any clear answers"..!!WTH....

On the PKFZ issues, i guess u guys r very familiar wif it.. Corruption, a word so infamous in our dear country.. u can jz c dem everywhere... 1 example wil b during the Raya break n Chinese new year esp.. when so sudd all of us can c our 'very hardworking' traffic policemen patrolling n setting roadblocks everywhere.. n when ur caught, guess wat... dey r sooo damn helpful, rite? well, no comment... since Malaysian r generally kind n helpful ppl....

N theres another thing dat has been on my mind for a very long time... before dat, if ur offended by anything dat i've written thus far, pls jz dun hesitate 2 get out of here.. well, continue on.. the 'bumiputera' concept... From my understanding, this's suppose 2 mean in general malays..(mayb include sm others but im nt sure) so now my Q is R V NOT MALAYSIAN?? den y wif the bumiputera n non-bumiputera thingy.. this term mayb right before but den v s the next generation r born in Malaysia.. v contribute muc to our country n yet those 'bumiputera's get benefits dat v dont! y not jz call us all MALAYSIAN? is dat hard? after all , vr reli malaysians...

N on the education issues.. the issue on Science & Maths to be taught in BM... well, wat now? U fellas wana b competitive , wana b s gd s those ppl outside Malaysia n yet ur education system is doing the opposite.. jz bcoz SOME ppl cant cope wif it in english.. i cant help but wonder wat's our 'great' leaders r doing in the Cabinet... sm1 reli shud wake them up from their sleep...

Well, i think all these problems stem from the Malays.. (not all though.. sorry bout this) some of the Malays, mind you, jz SOME (but a large no. of dem) r jz too narrow minded... Cant dey think out of the box? when can dey let go the past? dun they understand that vr already in 2009 n not in the 1957 era... dat its time to b united s MALAYSIAN rather den by race or bumiputera or non....

Surely there will come a time when we are no longer categorized by race but rather as Malaysian or non-Malaysians, a day when corruption exists at the minimum level (best if none, but impossible for that to happen..), a day when every single Malaysian can live in harmony with each other regardless of their differences.. but i seriously wonder when dat'll reli materialise... lets juz hope dat it wont b long... phew~~~ so many issues in our country.. too long 2b listed... haihzz.. take note this article is badly written.. so just bear wif it ya... jz a piece of thought from a Malaysian kid.... ^____^
